Annonce du 23 Aout 2012 : VMware Workstation 9.

Le leader de la virtualisation et des infrastructures de type cloud nous propose une nouvelle version du célèbre logiciel de virtualisation « host based » VMware Workstation 9.

VMware apporte comme dans son habitude de nouvelles fonctionnalités comme la compatibilité avec Windows 8.

Voici les nouvelles fonctionnalités implémentées dans VMware Workstation 9 :

  • Support de Windows  8 : L’installation a été simplifié ainsi que la création de machines virtuelles avec Windows 8. Le mode « Unity mode intelligently » fonctionne avec les applications Windows 8.
  • Amélioration et optimisation des Machines Virtuelles : Les performances au niveau du démarrage ont été augmenté, le support de l’USB 3.0 pour les machines virtuelles Windows 8, la compatibilité avec Intel Ivy Bridge, des performances générales augmentées, le support de l’OpenGL 2.1 sur linux et une amélioration des performances graphiques 3D.
  • Plus de mobilité : Une nouvelle interface Web vous autorisera à accéder à vos machines virtuelles démarrées sur une plateforme Workstation ou bien vSphere à partir de vos tablettes, smart phones, ordinateurs portables, etc… Ce nouveau concept, Web-based interface offrira un nouveau concept et ne nececitera aucune installation de plugin au niveau du navigateur.
  • Restriction pour les Machines Virtuelles : Les administrateurs informatiques ainsi que les instructeurs peuvent créer des machines virtuelles et les configurer de sorte à empêcher les employés ou les étudiants, de transferer des fichiers entre les ordinateurs et les machines virtuelles, de modifier les paramètres des machines virtuelles, etc… Une fois que les restrictions sont configurés, les machines virtuelles pourront être cryptés et distribués pour fonctionner sur Mac, Windows, Linux ou PC avec VMware fusion 5 Professionel, Workstation 9 ou VMware Player 5.

 

Pour ce qui est du prix, VMware propose la version 9 de Workstation pour $249. Il sera possible de mettre à niveau votre version Workstation 7.X et  8.X vers la version Workstation 9 pour exactement $119. Si par mégarde, vous avez acheté la version Workstation 8 entre le 1er aout 2012 et le 30 septembre 2012, la mise à niveau sera gratuite.
